A New Year is a new start for many people and the season of New Year’s Resolutions. Everyone has the intention to make the changes to be the best they can be in the New Year. However, life almost always gets in the way and statistically over 80% of people don’t succeed in their goal. With extra self-care and love being my New Year Resolution this year, my intention is to be even more successful in 2018. I have figured out a few things that have helped me maintain my goals and will implement again this year.
- Just for Me, Every Day – I start my day with setting the intention of doing something towards my goal. Every day is a different day and everyone’s energy/emotions and capacity ebbs and flows. Some days are better than others. The key for me is to figure out how I feel that day to accomplish my long-term goals. Every choice, whether it’s big or small, is a step closer to my intention.
- Acknowledge the accomplishment – Acknowledge every positive moment at the end of the day. Some days I accomplish more than others, but recognizing even the smallest accomplishment is important.
- Don’t beat yourself up – We all falter because inevitably life gets in the way. If there’s a day or maybe even a few in a row where my goals were not met, I don’t beat myself up. A resolution does not have to start only at the beginning of the year and end if we falter. Each day is a new day with the possibility of a new beginning.
I wish you all a successful start to your new year and look forward to a wonderful 2018!
