Beginning June 14, we will offer complimentary AI-based DERMASENSOR FDA-approved skin cancer screenings with any Skincare Consultation on Saturdays. Please call to make an appointment at 415-497-3635. This FDA-cleared device provides a new technology that utilizes light to aid in the assessment of suspicious skin lesions. It’s painless and takes only a few seconds for immediate results. This device has been validated to provide 96% sensitivity in detecting the three most common types of skin cancer: basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, and melanoma. Dermasensor is intended for use in primary care settings and is the first AI-enabled dermatologic device authorized for use by non-specialist healthcare providers. The FDA approved the De Novo pathway, which applies to novel medical devices of low to moderate risk.

SUMMER SURVIVAL TIPS FOR HEALTHY SKIN AND BODY
1. Stay Hydrated
Dehydration can wreak havoc on your skin, causing it to appear dull and lifeless. Start your day with a full glass of water, as you are naturally dehydrated after a whole night’s sleep. Consider adding refreshing fruits, such as watermelon or cucumber, to boost hydration and increase fiber in your diet.
2. Sunscreen is Crucial
Using a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30 is critical. Apply it every day, even on cloudy days, and reapply every two hours, especially if you’re swimming or sweating.
3. Protective Gear Helps
Wearing hats, sunglasses, and light, long-sleeved clothing can shield your skin from harmful UV rays, giving you an excuse to shop for a fabulous summer hat! You may want to create a “protection box” in your car for a spare hat and good sunscreen. Check the expiry dates on your sunscreen and dispose of expired products.
4. Avoid Peak Sun Hours
Try to stay out of the sun between 10 AM and 4 PM when rays are strongest. If you must be outside, seek shade whenever possible.
5. Visit us for a Skin Check with a Dermasensor scan. Please check your skin for any changes or unusual spots. We have a new device to test for skin cancer, but this is a preliminary scan. Schedule a yearly visit with your dermatologist.
By following these tips, you can enjoy a summer full of fun while maintaining healthy and vibrant skin.
